Power Apps in monthly reports
Development of Power App
In collaboration with Ster.co, we have developed a Power App for Flextender.
In the monthly cost reports, users can directly write comments in the dashboard. These comments are stored in a database and immediately reloaded in the same dashboard. Users can do this based on a cross-section of the period and cost center.
No longer necessary to transfer your report to PowerPoint!
Previously, the static Excel report was copied into a PowerPoint slide deck, where comments were added. The presentation was then saved as a PDF and shared with relevant stakeholders within the organization. This involved various manual tasks and did not result in a dynamic dashboard as the final product.
To view the comments from the previous month, one had to search for last month’s presentation. Very inconvenient!
Now, this Is no longer necessary!
The comments are written to a database and then retrieved in the dashboard. When you select a combination of year, month, and cost center in the filters, you will see the comments for that month. If you select a previous month, the comments from that month will be loaded. Thanks to this implementation, the process is automated, making it easier to look back. This lowers the threshold for even more data-driven work and increases the number of Power BI users.
No more reports are being sent around; everyone is now looking in Power BI!
“The great thing about the App integration is that I can easily access the comments from the previous month, which brings the story behind the numbers to life and quickly provides me with the insights I need.”
Jaap Jan Westland – Director, Flextender
How do we work?
To ensure that your dashboard perfectly aligns with the needs of your organization, we follow a meticulous process:
Data Strategy Session:
In this session, we focus on understanding your company’s strategy, whether there is a data strategy in place, the key KPIs, and their definitions. We also discuss the available data sources. Together, we will outline the design preferences for the dashboard.
Inspiration Session:
Using the insights from the data strategy session, we create an inspiration dashboard using dummy data. During the inspiration session, we present the dashboard and refine the requirements and definitions established in the Data Strategy session.
Implementation:
Next, we unlock data sources (source systems, databases, Excel, APIs), model, visualize, establish governance, and provide training. Most importantly, we work together to ensure that data-driven practices are embraced within the organization. Below, you can see a detailed breakdown of how we proceed in each phase.
